Walking through downtown Toronto, the sea of over-the-knee boots was the first sign that we were getting closer to the venue. The energy was electric, the crowd buzzing with anticipation for a night dedicated to the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul herself – Mary J. Blige. When she announced the “For My Fans Tour” with Ne-Yo and Mario, I didn’t hesitate to lock in my ticket. If there’s one artist who consistently delivers a show packed with heart, soul, and undeniable talent, it’s Mary. This was a well timed reunion, a celebration of legacy, and a reminder of why Mary J. Blige remains an icon in hip-hop and R&B culture.

Mary J. Blige’s influence on hip-hop and R&B is monumental. Since her debut album What’s the 411? in 1992, she’s been a problem, blending raw hip-hop beats with unique vocals to create a sound that redefined those genres.
