For those of us in the PR, social media management, and journalism fields, our careers often require us to be perpetually plugged in. But what happens when the lines between work and personal life blur, and we find ourselves overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information we consume daily? It’s a question i think about a lot, especially in the hip-hop community, where artists have used their platforms to speak about mental health and the pressures of fame or getting to it.

The Unseen Struggle of Social Media Professionals

It’s hip-hop, the art of it is artists often use their music as a form of therapy, expressing emotions and experiences that resonate with fans worldwide. Similarly, as professionals in the digital age, we must acknowledge the emotional toll of our work. Just because someone isn’t actively posting on social media doesn’t mean they’re not okay; it might simply mean they’re taking a much-needed break. Research shows that taking time off from social media can improve mental health and productivity.
