I had to take time with this one! First off thank you Fe, I feel you on the commenting Ha! I think it's easy for people to go with the hype of thinking Drake did this drop because of what they "think" the outcome of the Kendrick vs Drake beef was, but I couldn't disagree more. I think regardless of what it was he was going to drop this for plenty of reasons including the change of guard that will be taking place with UMG and a plethora of business moves happening behind the scenes. Kendrick finally decided to show up after Drake had been proving himself in a single or collaboration over and over and over again. Hiding behind Wayne? Never. Wayne fed off of Drake's energy as well and has openly spoken about feeling inspired by this Canadian. Everyone is creating this narrative of him needing to pay bills and being a "great employee of the label" but why were they all begging him down for features if none of them needed him, especially in the 2010s? He's no Nas or King Von? Of course not because he is DRAKE and showcased Toronto's diversity in the best ways possible (i.e. all the different genres he made slappers in)
